About this calculator
The Wardrobe Cost Per Foot Calculator gives a precise per-Rft modular wardrobe rate for the 2026 Indian market — the unit metric every modular vendor quotes on. The range is ₹1,400–4,200 per running foot for laminate shutters, scaling to ₹4,500–9,500/Rft for acrylic and lacquered finishes.
Per-Rft is how vendors quote but it hides the variables that swing total cost: shutter material, internal accessories, depth (24" standard vs 30" deep) and height (7 ft vs 8 ft). The calculator normalises these so two vendor quotes become genuinely comparable.
Why homeowners use this calculator
- Per-Rft rates by shutter type — laminate, acrylic, membrane, PU.
- Internal accessory add-ons (pull-out trousers, ties, jewellery) priced.
- Carcass thickness (16 vs 18 mm) flagged.
- Hardware brand premium (Hettich, Hafele) tracked.
- Free PDF for vendor cross-check.
Features
- Wardrobe length input in Rft.
- Height toggle (7 / 8 / 9 ft).
- Shutter material picker.
- Internal accessory selector.
- Premium gated PDF.
How the calculation works
Cost = Rft × (carcass rate + shutter rate + hardware rate) × height factor + accessories. For a 10 Rft laminate wardrobe at 8 ft height with mid hardware: 10 × ₹2,400 × 1.15 + ₹15k accessories = ₹42k. Same in acrylic: 10 × ₹4,800 × 1.15 = ₹55k + ₹15k = ₹70k.
Why this estimate is more accurate
Every modular wardrobe vendor quotes on Rft but the rate they quote means different things — some include hardware, some exclude shutters, some price only carcass. Knowing the breakup per Rft turns three different vendor quotes into one apples-to-apples comparison.
Material comparison
| Shutter type | ₹ / Rft (carcass + shutter + hardware) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Laminate (Greenlam / Merino) | ₹1,400–2,800 | Default Indian standard |
| Membrane / Lacquered MDF | ₹2,400–4,200 | Smooth, paint-like finish |
| Acrylic | ₹3,800–6,500 | Mirror gloss, premium |
| PU lacquered | ₹4,500–8,500 | Designer high-end |
| Veneer | ₹3,500–7,500 | Natural wood look |
What affects the final cost
- Height — every extra foot above 7 ft adds 12–18% to per-Rft cost.
- Carcass thickness — 18 mm BWP plywood ₹300–500/Rft more than 16 mm but lasts 2× longer.
- Hardware brand — Hettich/Hafele soft-close hinges + drawer channels ₹400–800/Rft over Indian unbranded.
- Internal organisers — pull-out trousers ₹3.5–6k, jewellery drawer ₹4–8k, tie pull-out ₹2.5–4.5k.
- Sliding vs hinged — sliding adds 25–40% premium (channels + heavier carcass).
- Mirror inserts — full-length mirror panel ₹3–7k per panel.
