How the calculation works
Diameter rule: room length + room width in feet = chandelier diameter in inches. For 14×16 ft living room: 14 + 16 = 30 inches diameter chandelier. Hang height over dining: 30–34 inches above table-top. Over coffee table or open foyer: 7 ft from floor minimum.
Why this estimate is more accurate
Designers default to the showroom display chandelier rather than the room-appropriate one. Most Indian dining rooms get a 24-inch chandelier when 30-inch is correct, or vice versa. Getting the size right matters more than the brand — a ₹15k correctly-sized chandelier beats a ₹1 lakh wrong-sized one.
