How the calculation works
Cost = area × (material + underlay + labour) × 1.07 wastage. For 800 sqft LVP at ₹95/sqft + ₹25 underlay + ₹35 labour = ₹1.3 lakh. SPC at ₹140 lands at ₹1.7 lakh. Rigid-core premium with sound underlay pushes ₹2.3–2.7 lakh.
Why this estimate is more accurate
Vinyl is the easiest flooring to overpay on — shops mix "SPC" terminology loosely and quote ₹120/sqft for what's actually a budget LVP. Knowing the realistic per-category rate lets you spot when a vendor is upselling.

What affects the final cost
- Wear-layer thickness — 0.3 mm rental-grade, 0.5 mm domestic, 0.7 mm+ commercial.
- Plank thickness — 4 mm flexible, 5–6 mm rigid-core, 6.5 mm SPC.
- Underlay — foam ₹15–25/sqft; cork (acoustic) ₹35–55.
- Sub-floor levelling — vinyl is unforgiving of bumps; budget ₹25–60/sqft if floor isn't level.
- Skirting — PVC skirting ₹35–80/Rft, MDF skirting ₹60–120/Rft.
